Jan Pater is a passionate sculptor. From an early age he was fascinated by various materials and the creative possibilities they offer.

Stone, lead, wood and bronze are the materials which he uses. Materials which are not easy to deal with, which ask to be convinced by the demands the designs set. Passion and power are the key words. That can be traced back to the sculptings; the elements figuration, dynamics, geometry and plasticity, all bundled in sculptings which (often) carry a monumental character.

His recent sculptings, arising from these elements, show a certain simplification, in which the natural movement of the human being as essential theme is made visible.
